![]() The laptop's two Intel High Definition Audio speakers made songs we regularly listen to sound almost unrecognizable. Unfortunately, Sony has once again saddled an otherwise good multimedia machine with lackluster audio performance. One of our biggest problems with Sony's previous version of the VAIO S Series 15 was its poor audio performance. And with a brightness rating of 270 lux, the S Series 15's display proved to be brighter than the category average of 259 lux, and above the Acer Aspire M5's 158 lux. We were able to watch videos and scroll web pages from a 45-degree angle without noticing any color distortion or washout. ![]() Viewing angles on the S Series 15's display were equally appealing. We were able to see much more content above the fold on sites such as, CNN.com and than we could on other notebooks with lower resolution screens. The hig-resolution display also made viewing websites a joy. As we watched a trailer for the next James Bond flick, "Skyfall," shadowy corridors looked like deep pools of black ink, while Daniel Craig's blue eyes sparkled like twin sapphires. There was initially very little information regarding the game made public until sometime in late 2005 when SCi merged with Eidos Interactive (Tomb Raider, Hitman, Deus Ex) and decided that the game should be put on hold and as a result development halted. Publisher at the time was shown to be 2K Games and the lesser known SCi (who purchased Eidos that was in turn purchased by powerhouse developer and publisher Square Enix). The developers were originally shown to be Visual Sciences (which was closed in February of 2006) who were working on the title “Carmageddon TV”, a game for the portable system and commercial flop, the “Gizmondo” from Tiger Telematics (which has sold less than 25,000 units in its lifetime). Since then, the game has gone through various developers, publishers and states of development as a video game. The official confirmation of Carmageddon came all the way back in 2003 thanks to a financial report. The 50 AA is a complicated design: 8 elements in 5 groups, in what appears to be a heavily modified double-Gauss design with a complex rear floating aspherical group, along the lines of that used in the recent 35/1.4 ASPH FLE. The full name is a bit of a mouthful, so I’m going to refer to it as the 50 AA from here on. Note: I’ve been informed by Leica that both camera and lens are prototypes, and there may be changes between now and the final release product. Personally, I find this a much more interesting announcement than the other two items – but then again, I’m also the sort of person who has eight ways to get to 28mm (and can find a use for all of them) – and I do appreciate the gentle field curvature of a Tessar design. Part one of this review took a look at Leica’s new M-Monochrom I’ve had a chance to review already earlier however, it’s now time to take a look at the accompanying lens. ![]() Clicking on an image will bring you the Flickr page where you can access larger versions. Enough time to check your email or Twitter account, in fact, which rips much of the immersion out of the game instantly. Every new area that you visit - whether it be a town, the world map, dungeon area, or even a simple, tiny house - comes with a lengthy loading time.
